Kaela + Josh Wedding

“Should we do a first look?”

I get asked this question all the time, so you are not alone in deciding if you should go with a first look or not. When couples or friends ask me this question, I usually respond with, “That is totally up to you!” A first look is and should be deeply intimate with you and your soon to be spouse. I know you may have outside influences speaking on to-do’s or not to-do’s but this is between you two. It’s your big day, your special moments, and as a photographer, I want you to remember and cherish them all. Your wedding is meant to be timeless, unique to you, and a super bomb party.

That being said, I do have some thoughts on first looks. One you get to do all your photos beforehand. This means you don’t a have to skip cocktail hour. You don’t have to feel you are running a 100m dash as fast as you can. Two, it allows you to see your partner before anyone else. Its just you two (and us the photographers)!! To me, that is far more special then seeing your spouse in front of 150 people. Now I get it, you want them to cry, and you want a genuine reaction, and you want it to be traditional. That is a-okay!! I am here for it!!! First looks over the past years have transitioned from nontraditional to a common occurrence. No matter what you choose, and who the photographer is, they are going to want to capture it all! So go with what you BOTH want!

Meet Josh and Kaela! They might have been one of kindest clients I have ever had. They constantly were making sure those around them were doing good and seeing if there was anything that they could do. It is THIER wedding day, and they had a servants heart. That is just who they are. As you scroll, you will see they chose a first look, and I loved it. You can see the pure joy on Josh’s face as he got to see his bride before anyone else. The amazing part of it was that when he got to see her again walking down the isle, he still had that twinkle of adoration and awe. Josh and Kaela will forever be one of my favorite weddings. They showed respect, love and pure joy throughout the whole day.
