Kaela + Josh

“We are bad at posing”

I have heard this comment so many times at the beginning of photoshoots. It makes me giggle, because it’s not your job! Instagram has cultivated a world where everyone thinks they’re “bad” if they don’t know how to model. I tell clients, “The first 15 minute of this shoot is going to be awkward but, we gotta break that ice.” We have to get to know each other, and establish trust and comfort. Posing for couples shoots is simple and intimate; think less vogue, more, hanging out in your living room. I like to ease into posing with simple prompts. As long as you know your rights from lefts, we should be golden!

It’s my pleasure to introduce you all to Kaela and Josh. They asked to get their photos during the fall, and as you can see the leaves were no joke. Kaela and Josh brought an incredibly peaceful energy to their shoot. Our time together, and their photos reflected how deeply Josh cared for Kaela. She recently had a surgery which made her mobility very difficult, but Josh was there holding her hand. He would slow down for her, and make sure she was not putting too much strain on herself. The intentional, soft care that was present between the two of them touched my heart, and definitely showed through my camera. Kaela and Josh are getting married this summer and, I am beyond excited to see these two start their lives together.
